Local Care – social commitment at our sites
Knorr-Bremse has always supported social and charitable institutions at its sites around the world. Together with our local partners we want to make a contribution to the welfare of the local community.
Social commitment at the individual Knorr-Bremse sites goes under the title of Local Care. To us, this means projects and measures managed by our local sites in order to support the surrounding region. The specific measures are highly varied and range from financial donations and donations in kind to topping up of private employee donations and voluntary commitment on the part of Knorr-Bremse staff – known as “corporate volunteering”. Such projects can be either one-off campaigns or ongoing activities as part of a long-term cooperative effort. They aim to raise awareness amongst Knorr-Bremse employees and motivate them to volunteer.
The main areas supported by Local Care are science and education, mobility and road safety, social infrastructure, environment, culture, sports and health protection.

‘Knorr-Bremse helps the helpers’ – some examples from all over the world
The aim of last year's ‘Knorr-Bremse helps the helpers’ campaign was to support colleagues who wanted to help shape their local community.
Many of our colleagues are involved in voluntary work in their spare time, and to mark the 10th anniversary of Knorr-Bremse Global Care, a campaign to support them was jointly launched by Local Care and Knorr-Bremse Global Care.
We asked employees at our sites all over the world to submit suggestions for projects aimed at helping people in need. Local project teams then decided on how the money was to be distributed. During the campaign a total of around € 500,000 was donated to more than 220 projects worldwide – over 50 of them at our Munich site. You can find some examples of this global campaign here.
