The compressed air produced by the compressor must be dried and cleaned before being distributed to up to seven different brake and subsidiary circuits. These circuits must be filled with up to three different pressure levels and secured against each other in order to fulfill reliably the highest safety demands in traffic.
Air Drying
Here, Knorr-Bremse offers the tried and tested air drying cartridge, which reliably dries the required compressed air. This preparation is necessary to protect the entire pneumatic system from freezing and internal corrosion and thereby ensure its efficient operation and increase the overall life of the system.
Oil Capture plus Air Drying (OSC)
In order to increase the life of the braking system, Knorr-Bremse has, in the shape of OSC, a highly efficient solution for stripping oil in droplet and vapor form from the compressed air before the air is dried. As a result, especially the seals fitted in all the different valves are protected and their lifespan significantly increased.
Conventional Air Treatment
The product range, which extends from air dryers, pressure regulators and circuit protection valves to pressure limiters, contributes to the functional safety of pneumatic systems. Additionally, we offer the integrated Air Processing Unit APU, which combines all the functions of an air preparation system in a single appliance.
Furthermore, for the further reduction of installation space, Knorr-Bremse has for years been offering an extremely compact monobloc APU.
Electronic Air Treatment
Since as early as 2004, Knorr-Bremse has been offering the Electronic Air Control EAC. This combines the tried and tested pneumatics of decisive functions with electronic operation. Intelligent, field-proven software and components result in a measurable reduction in the vehicle´s fuel consumption as well as increased safety and comfort.
The modular system platform, with additional integrated functions, reduces the vehicle manufacturer´s overall costs and facilitates an optimized service concept. With EAC, for the end-user, a measurable saving in fuel costs by exploitation of the engine overrun phase, precise regeneration and an improved energy saving concept can be achieved.
